Eden Garden is a cricket ground. It was established in 1864 in Kolkata. It is the home ground of Bengal cricket team and the IPL franchise cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. It is an also a well-known venue for the test, ODI and T20 matches of the Indian national cricket.
Eden Garden has the seating capacity of 94,000. The stadium currently has a capacity of 68,000 and it is the largest Stadium in India and second largest in the world. One of the biggest sporting centers, Kolkata’s Eden Garden holds a special place of interest in the history of Indian cricket. As I told you before the ground was capable of holding one lakh people but the capacity has been reduced to a little more than 66,000 after the stadium underwent some renovation before the world cup.

Interesting Facts You Should Know About Eden Gardens.
Eden Garden is the oldest stadium in India.
It is the biggest stadium in the country. However, it was once bigger than the Melbourne cricket ground. In 2011 Eden Gardens was revamped and after the renovation, the size of stadium was cut down to almost half of its size which had an original capacity of around 1,20,000
Only one cricketer has achieved a hat-trick at Eden Gardens. Over the years, over 30 cricketers have scored hat-tricks – taking three wickets in consecutive – balls – all around the world. However, in Eden Gardens, this has happened only once in 1991 by Indian allrounder, Kapil Dev.Sachin’s 199th match was held here against West Indies.
